About

Nicole Zizi is a multidisciplinary artist, designer and founder specializing in fashion, product, and interior design with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Her Haitian heritage significantly influences her work, drawing from a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, textiles, and community prevalent in Haitian culture. Spending her formative years shuttling between Florida and New York provided her with invaluable insights into the business and vibrant commercial art scenes.

At 17, she relocated to New York to study at Parsons School of Design, later continuing her education at Nassau Community College and the Fashion Institute of Technology, focusing on Fashion Design, Product Design, Temporary Environments, Interior Design, and Business. Her studies fueled her curiosity, prompting her to view the world as a wellspring of inspiration. Parsons equipped her with the tools to tackle pressing design challenges, particularly in fashion, furniture, and temporary architecture. She became acutely aware of the design industry's environmental impact and its ramifications for everyday life, inspiring her to adopt a more environmentally conscious approach to design.

This realization prompted her to meticulously select materials and prioritize eco-friendly alternatives in her designs. Thus, she founded NICOLE ZÏZI STUDIO, a brand dedicated to sustainability, materials science, and innovation in contemporary gender-neutral streetwear, accessories, and home essentials. The brand's inaugural product, the "Unisex Denim Coach’s Jacket," crafted from recycled PET spun into cotton sourced from Haiti and Honduras, garnered widespread acclaim, marking a pivotal moment in her career.

Since then, Zizi has continued to push boundaries, incorporating materials such as recycled Japanese denim, algae ink for screen printing, cactus leather, mango leather, apple peel leather, and various upcycled fabrics into her designs. As a designer and entrepreneur, Zizi aims to discover innovative ways to produce progressive designs through material science and research. Her passion for exploring alternative materials extends across fashion, product, and built environments, embodying her commitment to progressive and sustainable practices.

Her work celebrates themes of craftsmanship, textiles, and community, sparking meaningful dialogue within the art and design realms. As a design entrepreneur, consultant, and professional with experience spanning luxury, and startup sectors, Zizi remains dedicated to driving positive change through her work. Her recent graduation from the Fashion Institute of Technology showcases her ongoing pursuit of personal and professional growth, reaffirming her commitment as a passionate artist, designer, and entrepreneur.
